Tell the Truth Tuesday: Great Moments in D'Oh!

A funny thing happens with my brain sometimes. It manages to think of the most inappropriate things first. It's a blessing and a curse, really.

Like when I'm drafting my WIP, and I need to think of a good name for a Storyville bordello. No, I say to myself, there's no time to think of a good name, the perfect name. Just throw something lame in there as a stand-in, a temporary place holder.

Okay, myself says to I. Will do!

The name that spurts from my lazy-ass brain to my fingertips to the keys: The Spotted Cat. A great name for a nightclub. Not the best name for a whorehouse. Ew.

This has been your daily dose of D'Oh! You're welcome.

AHAHAH! That's hilarious! The perfect place names come to me more slowly than character names do, for some reason :)

Well...at least the patrons know what they're getting...

BAHAHAHAH! I am both cracking up at the word choice--and grossed out at the visual.

Ha! That's a good one. My crit partners have occasionally raised eyebrows at my quicky choices. I'm in awe of books with unusual, but not oddball, names. Good luck with finding the perfect match.

LOL! I feel that way about names - like I have to get the right one, but it always takes too much time. I can't throw in a stand-in though. I've taken to putting [NAME] into the WIP when I can't think of anything. Much less funny than your method.

I can't stop laughing at this! The sad part is men would still go to a whorehouse named the Spotted Cat. My first thought when I saw your temp title was the "lovely" British pudding, Spotted Dick. So I think your inappropriate mind has company.
