Run

I thought I was safe.

I had taken all the proper precautions, but somehow... They've found me.

The rush of bat-like wings fills the sky above me. The revision demons. Circling, as if over a carrion Thanksgiving, but it's my hide they're after. They want to delude me into thinking my novel is dying.

But that's just what they want me to think.

I stand straight and shake my fist at them, cradling my manuscript to my chest. All the while, they hurl taunts at me, but I can't listen to them. For that is certain death.

I sling stones to strike them from the sky, and run-- shaking, but surviving-- to where they won't find me again. Not any time soon, anyway. My novel is safe.

For now.

Fun post! Revision really does stink sometimes - it can be disheartening. I have a little something for you at my blog today. ;-)

I could say something, but I don't feel I was put on this earth to tell other people what to do - especially other writers. I've been in revision hell, too this year.
But, you know, those demon thingies have a way of coming back...

Revision is like carrion birds. Rotten, rotten birds.

Revision is like a drunken cousin-in-law. Don't ask me how, but I know it is. :P

Bastard revisions. Every time we think we're done with them another round reveals itself. I'm terrified of what our editorial revisions are going to be like. TERRIFIED.

Hold that baby close!!! And don't let the demons get you down. Revisions are fun and scary but they make a book sing!!!

I'm right there with you now, sister. We can beat the demons!

Hahaha, best post ever about revision. I hate it. Not going to lie. So dreading it, that I just continue writing new stuff instead of revising. Soon, though, those demons will come after me too. Soon...

Nicely written. I actually like revising. :)

Actually feeling better about my revisions today! Thanks for the support, y'all! I've been adding chapters to the middle of Mara's story, and I think I've really got something good going. Fingers crossed!

Jennie, I could sing the entire soundtrack by heart if you asked me to. (Please, that way maybe I'll get laryngitis before tonight's Messiah, lol) Love, love, love Hedwig. I suddenly feel so optimistic.

Oh, and dog-pile on Christina! Grrr! ;)
